Everett Wiethorn

Everett Wiethorn first discovered his passion for Jewelry when he embarked upon a solo-backpacking trip through SE Asia. He was enamored by the intricacies of Tibetan and Nepalese jewelry when traveling though Nepal. While wondering through the streets of Kathmandu, he came upon a small shop with a sign reading “Master Jewelers”, in this shop Wiethorn met two young Nepalese brothers who showed him their craft. Metalsmithing had been in their family for generations. Seeing his interest in their work and process, the two brothers extended an invitation to spend time in their humble studio, where he spent three days making his first ring. Wiethorn was hooked.

Wiethorn spent the next year acquiring tools at home in Portland and began self-teaching simple silversmithing techniques, diving deeper into his newly honed interest. He then spent the next year under the tutelage of Master Jeweler and Designer Paul Bartnik. Wiethorn was introduced to a more modern world of jewelry, gleaning techniques, tricks, and technical skills that gave him the ability to bring his intricate visions to life.

Over the past several years Wiethorn has nurtured and built his own studio based business in Portland Oregon, focusing on his craft and determined to take on projects that challenge him. He is now working with new techniques, ambitious designs, and more precious materials.

The shared influence, inspiration, tools, and techniques Wiethorn has gathered along his creative journey has propelled him to do almost every aspect of his craft in house: from fabrication to lost wax casting, and stone setting to hand engraving. He feels immensely grateful he has found both his passion and his profession in the same place, creating a firm platform for him to share his art.
